The Natchitoches Police Department has arrested Zachary Shuler (B/M, 18 y.o.a. of Marksville) for five counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
On May 12, 2025 around 3:15 p.m., Zachary Shuler, turned himself into the Natchitoches Police Department where he was arrested without incident.
Zachary Shuler was placed in the LaSalle Corrections / Natchitoches Detention Center.

Original Story: Natchitoches Police investigate shooting on University Parkway
The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place earlier this evening on University Parkway.
On May 1, 2025 around 5:54 p.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 5000 block of University Parkway (Whataburger) in reference to gunshots in the area. Upon officers arrival they made contact with several witnesses who said that a group of individuals arrived at the restaurant when an altercation occurred. During the altercation Zachary Shuler, the suspect, (B/M, 18 y.o.a. of Marksville) retrieved a firearm and fired into the parking lot. He and the victims then fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.
Deputies with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office were able to locate the victim vehicle on I-49 and initiated a traffic stop. Deputies located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The two victims were transported to a hospital in Shreveport where their condition is unknown at this time.
While on scene investigators and officers canvassed the area for bullet casings and evidence connected to the shooting. All of the evidence collected will be sent to the crime lab for further analysis.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Zachary Shuler for five counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
The investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
