Natchitoches Junior High is proud to announce that Mrs. Gabrielle Danos has been named the new sponsor of the NJH Cheerleading Squad. Mrs. Danos, an accomplished educator and passionate advocate for student growth, who joined the NJH faculty in 2023. She has become known for her dedication to building a cohesive, student-centered community in her classroom.
A graduate of Many High School, Mrs. Danos earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Northwestern State University and her Master of Arts in History from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Her academic background and commitment to excellence have made her a valued member of the NJH team. She is married to Michael Stephenson, a local artist and graduate student at Northwestern State University.
Though new to the role of cheer sponsor, Mrs. Danos is enthusiastic about the opportunities cheerleading provides to enhance school culture and student outcomes. She believes that cheerleading is a vital part of cultivating school spirit, pride, and unity. Her vision for the program is one rooted in leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement, where students grow not only as athletes, but also as role models who exemplify teamwork, sportsmanship, and strong interpersonal skills.
“Mrs. Danos’s enthusiasm for the role of sponsor and her recognition of the importance that the cheerleading squad leads the charge for promoting school spirit is what made her an obvious choice,” said Principal Bobby Benjamin, Jr. “We are excited to see the positive impact she will have on our students and our school community.”
Mrs. Danos looks forward to working closely with students, parents, and staff to build a cheer program that serves as an ambassador of encouragement, inclusion, and school spirit throughout Natchitoches Junior High and the wider community.
Important Dates
First Parent Meeting:
June 17, 2025, in the cafeteria of the new NJH building. This will be an introductory and informational meeting for all parents and guardians with students interested in the cheer program.
Cheerleading Tryouts:
July 7-11, 2025
