City of Natchitoches awarded funding for street improvement projects

The City of Natchitoches has been awarded $2 million in state capital outlay funding for concrete pavement replacement and related improvements along Second Street and Touline Street. The funding was included in House Bill 2, passed during the 2025 Regular Legislative Session.

The project will support the planning and construction of much-needed upgrades to these key downtown corridors, which are central to local traffic, tourism, and community events. Both streets run through the city’s historic district and are frequently used by residents and visitors alike.

City officials have prioritized improvements to Second and Touline Streets as part of a broader effort to enhance infrastructure, preserve the city’s historic character, and ensure safer, more accessible roadways.

Further details on construction timelines and project scope will be announced as planning progresses.
