Lions Club hears about Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, Innovation Park at NSU

Natchitoches Lions Club heard from Director of Business Development and Public Relations for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation Greg Burke. Greg shared with Lions about the upcoming Hall of Fame Induction weekend activities.

Many of the Induction Weekend’s activities are free and open to the public. Starting Thursday, June 26 the Welcome Reception will be held at the Hall of Fame Museum located on Front Street; this event opens up the world renowned museum to the public at no charge  from 5-7 with food, refreshments and entertainment.

Friday night, June 27 will feature the Rockin’ River Fest on the downtown riverbank. There will be a concert and fireworks show all free to the public.

Saturday morning, June 28 brings a free Junior Training Camp featuring this year’s inductees. The camp is free and open to students ages 7-17. Online registration is required.

So many no charge options open to the public!

Lions also heard exciting news from Jill Leo, Associate Director of Innovation at Northwestern State University shared “The Spark Behind the Park”. Innovation Park will be located on a 12 acre site on University Parkway. Three buildings located next to both Louisiana School for Math, Sciences and the Arts and Northwestern State University will offer state of the art facilities to not only students but the Natchitoches and surrounding communities. Both institutions and the public will greatly benefit from these facilities. Follow NSU’s Office of Economic Development Facebook page for updates on this project.
