
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man on multiple charges, including felony drug offenses, after he was taken into custody on outstanding warrants early Saturday morning according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.
On June 28, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Natchitoches Police Department notified the Sheriff’s Office that they had detained a suspect identified as Michael R. Sam, 44, of Natchitoches, who was wanted by the 10th Judicial District Court for Contempt of Court – Failure to Appear for a scheduled jury trial on May 23, 2022. The trial was related to previous charges of Possession of Schedule I and Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and Driving Under Suspension.
Sheriff’s deputies confirmed the outstanding warrants and responded to the Natchitoches Police Department, where they took Sam into custody without incident. He was transported to LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center and booked on the following charges:
Two counts of Failure to Appear in Court for Jury Trial.
During the booking process, LaSalle Corrections Officers observed Sam attempting to discard a cellophane bag containing approximately 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine by throwing it onto the floor. The suspected narcotics were secured as evidence and will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis.

Michael Sam has a documented criminal history in Natchitoches Parish. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
