NPSO assists LSP in vehicle pursuit north of Natchitoches

A vehicle pursuit that led to a heavy police presence near Johnson Chute Road on Saturday afternoon concluded with two arrests, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. when Louisiana State Police requested assistance from NPSO in a pursuit involving a white Toyota Camry that failed to stop on I-49. The suspect vehicle exited the interstate at Posey Road and drove through clear-cut terrain off Dixon Road.

Deputies joined the pursuit and temporarily lost sight of the vehicle before locating it again on Sisson Road. The chase continued along Johnson Chute Road, then to LA Highway 1, and across to Bayou Pierre Cutoff Road.

Authorities deployed tire deflation devices during the pursuit, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway. However, the driver managed to reenter LA Highway 1 and continued southbound toward the Natchitoches city limits. Natchitoches Police responded to assist with the incident.

The pursuit ended in the 4800 block of LA Highway 1 on a private drive, where law enforcement took two suspects into custody without incident. The vehicle was later impounded.

No injuries were reported. The Louisiana State Police is leading the ongoing investigation.
