Drug Enforcement Unit announces arrests in contraband smuggling investigation at LaSalle Correctional Facility

Over the past few months, agents assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) received credible information indicating that contraband was being smuggled into the LaSalle Correctional Facility according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

An extensive investigation revealed a conspiracy involving multiple suspects who attempted to introduce contraband via legal documents treated with a chemical compound containing Schedule I Ketamine.

As a result of these efforts, the following individuals have been arrested and charged:

*Haeli Epperson, 34, of Natchitoches – One count of 40:967 CDS II (Methamphetamine), one count of 14:402.1 Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and one count of 14:72 Forgery.

*Timothy Meshell, 41, of Marthaville – Two counts of 14:26 Criminal Conspiracy, one count of 14:402.1 Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and one count of 40:966 Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS I Synthetic Cannabinoid.

*Kristopher Burks, 25, of Natchitoches – Two counts of 14:26 Criminal Conspiracy, One count of Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and one count of 40:966 Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS I Synthetic Cannabinoid.

*Charlaigha Morris, 25, of Natchez- One count of Criminal Conspiracy, One count of 14:26 Criminal Conspiracy, one count of Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and Accessory to Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS I Synthetic Cannabinoid.

*Donovan Solitaire, 25, of Natchitoches – One count of 14:26 Criminal Conspiracy, one count of 14:402.1 Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and Distribution of CDS I Synthetic Cannabinoid.

The investigation remains ongoing.
