The Natchitoches Jazz/R&B Festival Board of Directors has announced that the 2026 festival will be held on the weekend of May 15-16.
According to board member J.P. Luster, the move from the second weekend in May to the third is simply to move the festival away from Mother’s Day weekend.
“We’ve tried holding the festival on Mother’s Day weekend for a few years now, and the feedback we have received and the actual statistics we have accumulated show that holding it that weekend has a negative impact on our attendance”, Luster said. “There’s too many people who go out of town for Mother’s Day or have family events scheduled for that weekend.”
Luster went on to say that there are so many events in town and in the area in the spring and early summer that it is virtually impossible to avoid conflicting with something but that the Board felt this was a move that needed to be made.
“The board felt that this would be a positive move, not only for the festival itself, but would also free up more people who would like to attend, but have been unable to”, Luster continued.
Luster concluded by saying that the board and committees are already working diligently on next year’s 29th annual festival and said it promises to be the best one yet.
