A structure fire in the 100 block of Francis Street off University Parkway resulted in the total loss of a home on Aug. 7, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to assist Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6, with mutual aid provided by the Natchitoches City Fire Department, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS was dispatched to the scene. The elderly homeowner was evaluated by emergency medical personnel and released without requiring transport.

Francis Street was temporarily closed to allow fire crews to operate safely. The American Red Cross was also on site to provide assistance.

No injuries were reported.
