After a summer break, Young at Heart luncheons for seniors resumed on Aug. 6 at the First United Methodist Church.
Musicians Ben Rushing and Keith Shirley performed for the event, featuring a wide variety of popular country, gospel, and folk songs.
June/July/August birthdays were celebrated by Linda Turner, Joanne Collier, Carol Sheppard, Debra Caron, and Joyce Baird. June/July/August wedding anniversaries were celebrated by Paul and Joyce Baird and by Sonny and Evelyn Evans.
Harvey Polk served as Master of Ceremonies, and the church’s Faith Circle provided “Summer at the Beach” table decorations. Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal.
Young at Heart meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 AM in Bostick Hall at the church (enter through doors under the bell tower). The meeting is non-denominational, and all community seniors are welcome to come and enjoy good entertainment, good food, and good fellowship. Those attending are asked to pay a $5 fee or to bring a covered dish to share. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3.
