Nicholas Alexander West was born on October 1, 1990 in Alexandria, Louisiana and passed away suddenly on August 11, 2025.
Nick was a beloved son, cousin, nephew and friend. Anyone who was in his presence felt his warmth, personality and good humor. Nick never met a stranger.
He graduated from Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was a graduate of Northwestern State University.
Nick was a football coach having coached at Parkview Baptist and University High in Baton Rouge, Walker High School and Natchitoches Central High School. He also coached on the collegiate level at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas and at Northwestern State University.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Billy West, Sr. and Paula Haynes West of Natchitoches and Matthus and Virginia Gremillion West of Ville Platte.
Nick is survived by his parents, Billy L. West, Jr. of Natchitoches, Louisiana and Shelley Coe West of Ville Platte, Louisiana and Augustine Williams Nabors of Natchitoches, Louisiana and his Aunt and Uncle, Cyndi and Terry Downs of Natchitoches, Louisiana. He is also survived by his cousins, Jennifer Martin (Kevin) of Oswego, New York, William Downs (Meredith) of Biloxi, Mississippi and Andrew Downs (Melissa) of Kerrville, Texas.
Nick will be remembered as a good coach, a great friend and a loving son. Nick will be sorely missed.
Arrangements: A rosary will be held for family and friends of Nick on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave. Natchitoches, Louisiana with a Visitation from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Minor Basilica of Immaculate Conception with a burial to follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches.
Pallbearers will be: Andrew Downs, Michael Lott, Logan Kyzar, Andrew Campbell, Brad Laird, Nick Brossette, Lawson Green and Mike Brown
