A Natchitoches woman is facing multiple charges after deputies with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen vehicle from DeSoto Parish and seized illegal narcotics, according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.
NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies were patrolling on Texas Street on Sept. 14 around 6:51 pm when they observed a silver 2015 Kia, bearing Texas license plates, that had been reported stolen in DeSoto Parish.
Deputies attempted to locate the vehicle but temporarily lost contact. Deputies then saturated the Texas Street corridor and soon spotted the Kia parked on Rowena Street with the driver’s door open and a female occupant inside.
As deputies approached, the woman exited the vehicle and began walking toward the rear of a nearby residence. She was detained and identified as Tamira C. Ledet, 27 of Natchitoches. Additional deputies responded to assist due to potential bystander interference.
The vehicle was confirmed stolen, and Ledet was taken into custody. During an inventory search of the vehicle, deputies discovered suspected crack cocaine, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Ledet was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Detention Center on the following charges:
* Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (<$25,000 but >$5,000)
* Simple Possession of CDS I (Marijuana)
* Possession of CDS II (Crack Cocaine)
* Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
DeSoto Parish authorities have placed a hold on Ledet. Records show she has a prior history of narcotics-related arrests. The vehicle was towed and secured at a local wrecker service until the registered owner could make arrangements for recovery.
Deputies involved in the arrest included Deputy J. Wilkerson, Deputy T. Hortman, and Sgt. D. Cabellero. The investigation is ongoing.
