Boil Advisory issued for portions of Natchitoches Water System

The City of Natchitoches Water Distribution System has issued a boil advisory effective immediately for certain areas of Natchitoches Parish.

The advisory impacts the following locations: a portion of the I-49 Corridor from Settles Landing to Collins Road, Highway 504 from Highway 6 to the Sibley Lake Boat Launch, the south side of 8-Mile Loop, Mr. Edd Lane, Lime Kiln Road, Rue De Gabriel, Shamard Heights Subdivision, Taylor Road, and Highway 3278.

The precautionary measure was issued due to a loss of water and a drop in system pressure, which may have affected water quality. Residents in the affected areas are advised to disinfect their water before consuming it, including when making ice, brushing teeth, preparing food, or rinsing produce.

To disinfect, boil water for one full minute after it reaches a rolling boil. The flat taste that may result can be removed by shaking the water in a clean container, pouring it between two clean containers, or adding a pinch of salt per quart.

The boil advisory will remain in effect until it is lifted by the water distribution system. Areas outside those listed remain unaffected.
