A group of 400 young men and women from high schools throughout North Louisiana spent an enjoyable day learning about the opportunities offered by a career in the sciences at Northwestern State University’s STEM Day Friday, September 26. The event featured hands on demonstrations and fun activities from each of NSU’s science and math departments. From forensic activities to veterinary tech demonstrations to flying drones, there were plenty of activities to spark young minds’ interest in the sciences at NSU.
In addition to the fun activities, a group of over 30 STEM Ambassadors guided the student groups throughout the day. These accomplished young men and women are current science students at NSU and represent a wide variety of majors and career ambitions. From Nursing to Pre-Meds and allied health to future researchers and scientists, the STEM Ambassadors serve as superb examples of what hard work can accomplish.
Natchitoches parish was ably represented by over 100 sharp young men and women from NCHS, Lakeview and St. Mary’s. Work hard, do great things and make us proud!
