Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training for LP Vaughn Elementary School teachers and staff as part of the school’s ongoing safety and preparedness efforts.
The CRASE program, developed by Texas State University’s Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center, is widely recognized nationwide. It equips participants with strategies such as situational awareness, decisive action, and coordinated response — skills considered vital in the event of an emergency.
Sheriff Stuart Wright said the goal of the training is to empower educators and school employees with the confidence and knowledge needed to act swiftly to protect themselves and students during a critical incident.
The session was conducted by NPSO School Resource Officer Lt. Derrick Turner. Due to the sensitivity of the material, further details of the training are not being released.
NPSO emphasized its continued commitment to working with Superintendent Grant Eloi and Natchitoches Parish schools to enhance student and staff safety through training and preparedness initiatives.
