City releases revised schedule for East Fifth, Woodyard construction

Due to equipment breakdown and scheduling conflicts, the City of Natchitoches announces revisions to
the schedule for upcoming construction work on East Fifth Street and Woodyard Drive.

Pavement removal work on East Fifth Street from Royal Street to just north of the Bienville Street
intersection, and on a 1,200-linear foot section of Woodyard Drive approximately 0.2 mile east of South
Drive, was performed on Oct. 1.

Beginning at 4 a.m. and extending to 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, East Fifth Street from Royal
Street to just north of Bienville Street will be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC to allow for construction of a new
cement-treated base course. During this time, Bienville Street at the intersection of East Fifth Street will
remain open to traffic.

Depending on the availability of cement, base reconstruction work also will be performed on the section
of Woodyard Drive described above, on either Thursday, Oct. 2, or Friday, Oct. 3. While this work
is ongoing, this section of Woodyard Drive will be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC for approximately four hours, which will require motorists to detour around the work site via Abbie Drive and Saida Street.
Placement of the new asphalt surfacing on both streets is scheduled for the week of Oct. 6.

During this operation, one-way, two-lane traffic will be maintained by use of flaggers.

This work is part of the City of Natchitoches 2025 Street Rehabilitation Program. The contractor is Apeck
Construction LLC of Anacoco.

Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. and city staff ask for citizens to be patient while inconvenienced during these
construction activities, which will result in improved driving conditions on these streets.
