Lunchtime Lagniappe to feature Shreveport’s Pioneer Heritage Center with Marty Young

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches will host its next Lunchtime Lagniappe program on Friday, Oct. 24 from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

This month’s presentation, “Shreveport’s Pioneer Heritage Center,” will be led by Marty Young, Director of the Pioneer Heritage Center. Young will explore the stories of the pioneers who settled northwest Louisiana—where they came from, how they lived, and how they adapted to life on the frontier.

Established in 1977 as a joint project of LSU Shreveport and the Junior League of Shreveport, the Pioneer Heritage Center features historic buildings, exhibits, and programs that showcase the region’s cultural diversity and frontier history from the 1830s to the 1930s.

Young oversees the museum’s operations, artifact preservation, and educational programs, offering visitors hands-on experiences through tours and living history demonstrations.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy the talk while they eat.
