The Louisiana Music Educators Association has announced this year’s Louisiana All-State musicians, chosen through a competitive two-round audition process. Selection requires exceptional dedication, skill, and poise, as students perform solo for panels of trained adjudicators. Fewer than 1% of Louisiana high school musicians earn All-State recognition during their high school careers.
Natchitoches is well-represented this year, with six students earning ensemble chairs:
NCHS: Ana Cano-Campos, Yujun Yao, Christian Frazier, Billy Robicheaux, Scott Stetson
LSMSA: Jonas Johnson*
Several of these students also qualify for the LMEA Academic Award.
Musicians will gather in New Orleans this January for the LMEA All-State conference, where they will rehearse and perform a challenging repertoire under the direction of renowned conductors.
*Jonas Johnson marks his fourth consecutive selection to the top All-State ensemble, an exceptional achievement even among high-performing peers. Teachers, family, and peers praise his dedication, talent, and exemplary character.
