America – where the recipe for the ideal of
the brotherhood of man under the fatherhood of God,
the sisterhood of woman under the sisterhood of Goddess
in the laboratory of humanity;

America – where the fire went unattended
while the lard of an ideal burned;

America – where the New Dealers were mocked
and the Dreamer murdered;

America – where the demagogues are high priest
in the conclave of golden calf;

America – where the poseurs are preacher
to the body possessed;

America – where the schemers and scammers prowl
the wall’d street frequented by the Moloch;

America – where the children of the poor
are denied their daily bread;

America – where Mother of Exiles once welcomed
the ‘huddled masses through the golden door’
of the Promised Land;

America – the New Colossus shall wake up
and care of the children of the children of the children
of the immigrant folks.
