Two people arrested during recent Sheriff’s Impact Unit operation

Two individuals were arrested during a recent Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Impact Unit operation that resulted in the seizure of illegal narcotics and a firearm, according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

The Sheriff’s Impact Unit—comprised of deputies from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit, Patrol Operations Bureau, and Criminal Records Office—was established by Sheriff Wright to increase proactive patrols and focus on gun violence, narcotics activity, wanted persons, and thefts throughout Natchitoches Parish.

Traffic Stop on La. Hwy 6 West – Firearm and Narcotics Seized

On Friday evening, November 14, 2025, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Impact Unit deputies were conducting proactive patrols on La. Hwy 6 West near Hagewood when they stopped a 2003 Buick passenger car for improper lane usage.

Deputies identified the driver as 43-year-old Cody Kay of Goldonna, La., and observed an 11-year-old child in the vehicle.

Upon contact, deputies noted Kay appeared extremely nervous. When asked about weapons, he stated he had a shotgun on the backseat. A driver’s license and criminal history check revealed Kay had prior criminal history and was subject to an active protective order prohibiting him from possessing any firearms until August 2026.

A backup unit was called for officer safety. Deputies detected the odor of suspected marijuana, and Kay was detained without incident. He admitted to smoking marijuana the previous day.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of:
Browning 12-gauge shotgun
Ammunition
Approximately 5.5 grams of suspected marijuana
Drug paraphernalia

Kay was transported and booked into the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center on the following charges:
Violation of a Protective Order by Possessing a Firearm
Possession of CDS I Marijuana
Improper Lane Usage

Traffic Stop in Cloutierville/Derry Area – Methamphetamine Seized

At approximately 9:17 p.m., Impact Unit deputies working in the Cloutierville/Derry areas stopped a black 2013 GMC pickup on La. Hwy 119 for following too close.

Deputies identified the driver as 40-year-old Sabrina R. Aaron of Natchitoches.

While requesting her driver’s license, deputies observed suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view. Deputies also learned Aaron had an outstanding bench warrant out of Rapides Parish and a prior criminal history. A backup unit responded, and consent to search the vehicle was granted.

Deputies recovered:
Approximately 7 grams of suspected methamphetamine (two eight-balls)
Drug paraphernalia

Aaron was transported and booked into the LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center on the following charges:
Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Rapides Parish Bench Warrant
Following Too Close

Her vehicle was released to a family member.

After arriving at the detention center, medical staff noted her blood pressure was elevated. Deputies transported her to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was later released and returned to the detention center.

Deputies say all seized evidence from both incidents will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis. The investigations remain active.

Sheriff Wright added:
