Single-vehicle crash downs utility pole

At 10:00 p.m., Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #1 first responders were on the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Nov. 29 at 10 pm involving a utility pole on Hwy. 1 near Cat Island Cut-off Road, just north of Derry, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

There were no reported injuries, though EMS assessed the sole occupant of the vehicle. Deputies reported that an 18-year-old Slidell woman driving a 2004 Honda Civic had been traveling northbound on Hwy. 1 when, for reasons still under investigation by Louisiana State Police, the vehicle exited the roadway on the left. It continued several hundred feet down an embankment before striking and breaking a SWEPCO utility pole.

SWEPCO was notified of the damage, and the scene remained active as crews responded. Motorists traveling through the area were urged to use caution, avoid distractions, and remain alert while units were on scene.
