Natchitoches Parish fire departments participated in a parish-wide training exercise on Jan. 13 with a focus on the proper use and capabilities of extrication tools, according to Natchitoches Parish Fire District #6.
The training emphasized understanding the limits and correct application of extrication equipment to improve efficiency during rescue operations. Officials noted that proper knowledge and handling of the tools enhances safety for both emergency responders and patients by reducing unnecessary force and minimizing risk during vehicle extrications and similar incidents.
Firefighters practiced using the equipment in a variety of simulated scenarios, allowing participants to become more familiar with the tools and better prepared for real-world emergency responses. The hands-on training was designed to strengthen readiness across departments and promote consistent, safe rescue practices throughout the parish.
