The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) has received a clean audit following an independent review of its 2025 financial operations conducted by the certified public accounting firm Thomas, Cunningham, Broadway and Todtenbier.

 

During a briefing on January 20, 2026, Certified Public Accountants Jennifer Hawkins and Brooke Teddlie advised Sheriff Stuart Wright that the audit resulted in no findings, no exceptions, and no reported deficiencies. The audit further determined that there were no material weaknesses in internal controls required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards.

 

These results indicate that the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is in full compliance with applicable financial reporting requirements and remains in sound financial condition.

 

Sheriff Stuart Wright stated, “I committed to being a responsible steward of public funds, and this audit reflects that commitment. I am proud of our staff for their diligence and dedication in maintaining the highest standards of accountability.”

 

Sheriff Wright added, “Achieving full compliance demonstrates our ongoing commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and effective public service.”

 

Sheriff Wright and Chief Deputy Darrel Winder also commended NPSO Finance Director Jenny Perkins-Smith for her outstanding leadership, professionalism, and attention to detail in managing the agency’s financial operations and ensuring continued compliance with all auditing standards.

 

Sheriff Wright further emphasized, “As Sheriff, I am committed to providing our deputies with the best equipment and tools to effectively fight criminal activity while ensuring taxpayer funds are used responsibly and with full accountability for the citizens of Natchitoches Parish.”
