Dr. Carmella Parker and Dr. Mary Beth Fair were invited to share their knowledge with members of the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) at the organization’s 100-year Mid-Winter Conference, held February 3-4 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge, LA.
Their presentation, entitled “AI: The New Digital Frontier for Municipalities,” was attended by several hundred mayors, councilmen, clerks, and community leaders from cities, towns, and villages across the state.
This past October, the pair was invited to speak on A.I. for municipal attorneys at the Louisiana City Attorneys Association’s 2025 Fall CLE Conference. Their presentation created such great dialogue and was so well-received that the LMA invited them back. LMA is an organization that advocates for Louisiana’s municipal governments to strengthen community development, educate, and empower local governments to efficiently and effectively serve the citizens of Louisiana.
Drs. Parker and Fair are both attorneys and professors who teach in the College of Business and Technology at Northwestern State University. Dr. Parker was previously an Assistant Attorney General for the State of LA and worked for Fortune-500 companies, Liberty Mutual and Walt Disney World. Dr. Fair previously worked for law firms Cook, Yancey, King, and Galloway in Shreveport, and for The Dyess Law Firm in Natchitoches. The duo has been giving professional and continuing legal education (CLE) presentations together for nearly a decade, focusing on newly emerging areas of the law, as well as, ethics and professionalism.
