Weekly weather outlook: mild midweek, rain chances increase by the weekend

Natchitoches Parish residents can expect a mostly mild and unsettled week ahead, with warm daytime temperatures through the end of the workweek before widespread rain and storms arrive over the weekend.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers, around 20 percent. Highs are expected to reach the mid-70s, with light winds shifting from west to north during the afternoon. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 50 under increasing cloud cover.

Cloudy conditions will continue Thursday, with highs again in the mid-70s. Winds will be light, turning southerly by the afternoon. Thursday night lows will settle into the mid-50s.

Friday remains mostly cloudy and warmer, with highs in the upper 70s. A slight chance of showers develops during the afternoon, increasing into Friday night as rain chances rise to around 40 percent. Overnight lows will be near 60.

The most active weather is expected Saturday, when showers are likely in the morning, followed by showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rain chances peak near 90 percent, and highs will be in the lower 70s. Showers and possible storms will continue into Saturday night, with lows in the mid-50s.

Conditions begin to improve Sunday, with a slight chance of morning showers giving way to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 60s, and skies will clear Sunday night as temperatures drop into the mid-40s.

Washington’s Birthday is expected to be mostly sunny and pleasant, with highs in the lower 70s. Clear skies will continue into Monday night, with lows in the upper 40s.

By Tuesday, partly cloudy skies return, and highs climb back into the mid-70s, rounding out a week that transitions from mild and cloudy to wet, then back to dry and comfortable.
