Bennie Logan named Grand Marshal for Krewe of The 9 parade

Bennie Logan, a Coushatta native and former National Football League standout, will serve as grand marshal of the Krewe of The 9 Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Staging and termination for the family-oriented parade The parade will begin and end at the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse parking lot, located at the corner of Church and Third Streets in downtown Natchitoches. Line-up is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., with the parade set to roll at 12 p.m.

Parade Route: Beginning on Church Street, to Second Street, turning onto Texas Street, then Fifth Street before returning to Church Street.

A noted defensive tackle at Louisiana State University, Logan went on to play six seasons in the National Football League. During his professional career, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans.

Logan later served as a defensive coach at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge and is a businessman. In December, he was named defensive line coach for the football program at Southern University and A&M College by head coach Marshall Faulk.
