The Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches hosted Dr. Shaun Wheat, director of the Northwestern State University College of Nursing, along with several nursing students, during its March 12 meeting.
Dr. Wheat provided an overview of the nursing programs offered at Northwestern State University and discussed opportunities available to students pursuing careers in healthcare. Nursing students also participated in the presentation, answering questions and sharing their experiences in the program.
During the visit, club members were offered blood pressure checks conducted by the students, allowing them to practice clinical skills while engaging with the community.
Club officials expressed appreciation for the visit and the role the program plays in preparing future healthcare professionals.
