NPSO and LSP respond to two separate Traffic Crashes on Interstate-49 north of Natchitoches, La.; Samaritans stop to render assistance

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Sheriff’s Rescue Divers, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS Paramedics  and Natchitoches City Fire Department are on the scene of two separate one-vehicle crashes on Interstate 49 north of Natchitoches, La. near milepost #145.Road conditions in the area were reportedly wet due to rain in the area.

One vehicle reportedly a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban left the roadway and entered high water off the Interstate which is in the Bayou Pierre area.

Deputies report two good samaritans from the State of Oklahoma traveling through the area stopped and swam out to the submerged vehicle rescuing the driver of the Suburban assisting him back to land.   The driver was reportedly uninjured.

The driver of the 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck recieved minor lacerations but refused medical transportation.

Sheriff’s Rescue Divers are assisting a local wrecker service with recovery of the submerged Chevrolet SUV.

Names of the samaritans will be released at a later time.

Troopers assigned to LSP-E Alexandria are working the crash investigations.
