The Natchitoches City Council opened their meeting with prayer and the pledge. All were in attendance with the exception of Larry Payne.
Mr. Stamey presented an ordinance allowing the Mayor to award the bid for the 2015 City Street Project to the lowest bidder, T.L. Construction at $1,068,119.60. The ordinance passed.
Mr. Nielson proposed authorizing the Mayor to enter into an MOU with The Natchitoches Community Alliance Foundation. The ordinance passed.
Ms. Morrow presented an ordinance authorizing an agreement to remove junked or wrecked automobiles from the City of Natchitoches. No local businesses could be found that would agree to remove the vehicles so the search was extended to neighboring cities.
Mr. Mims proposed to convey a surplus inoperable fire truck to the Town of Campti. Passed
A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a change order to complete the renovations of the city pool at a total cost of $232,251.80. Mayor Posey said he appreciates the Council’s support in renovating the pool. Mr. Stamey said, “It’s in great condition.” Passed
The last resolution was to authorize the Mayor to bid for the Riverbank ADA access ramp project. Passed
City offices will be closed Friday, July 3rd.
Ms. Morrow added that she had observed and been told of children playing in the streets because basketbball goals were located near there. She cautioned all members to patrol their district and alert police for the safety of the children.
The next City Council Meeting will be July 13, 2015.
