CITY OF NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA TEMPORARY CHANGE IN DRINKING WATER DISINFECTION METHOD
The treatment of water systems has been compared between Natchitoches and surrounding areas to help come to a decision on how to disinfect. Notices will be sent out via email and mail to residents. Regulations have gotten stricter, and this process has never been used in Natchitoches because the technology was not available. It was been successful in Monroe, Shreveport, Bossier and Lake Charles. The disinfectant will be changed temporarily to improve water quality and the water system will be managed. This will involve a lot of flushing to transition the water out; which will result in some brown water with bad taste or smell. ATP measurements will be taken and state required testing of the water will take place. This treatment will not affect the fluoride. Should take 30-60 days, and the work will be done in zones.
