Natchitoches Parish Library has some exciting new materials and services now available for patrons.
In an effort to provide current educational information and services to every patron in the parish, Natchitoches Parish Library is proud to introduce several new services starting September 1, 2015. Library Express, a homebound and books-by-mail service, extends traditional library services to residents of Natchitoches Parish who are physically unable to come to the library. Depending on an individual’s residence within the parish, library materials are either hand-delivered or mailed directly to their home – for FREE!
To qualify for Library Express services, patrons must reside within Natchitoches Parish, have a valid library card in good standing, and meet the terms of the program. Natchitoches Parish residents who live within 15 miles of the main library location and are considered homebound are eligible to receive library materials hand-delivered to their home. Residents who live farther than 15 miles from the main library location and are eligible to receive free matter for the blind and visually handicapped through the United States Postal Service (Publication 347) can receive library materials through the mail. Natchitoches Parish residents interested in the Library Express service may pick up an application in-person at the library or print one from the library’s website, www.youseemore.com/natchitoches. Completed applications may be dropped off at the library, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or faxed to 318.357.7073.
Another new service debuting this September is WiFi to Go. Five portable Internet devices (Verizon Jetpack MiFi) are available for check-out on a first-come, first-served basis. Similar to the library’s laptop check-out policy, WiFi to go devices will be checked out for a period of three days and cannot be reserved ahead of time. Each household may only check out one device at a time; devices may be checked out again after a one week waiting period per household. Patrons must return the device to the library on the due date at least thirty minutes before closing.
Another new feature in the library is the addition of three iPads in the children’s area. Children are encouraged to take advantage of the fun and educational apps on the iPads. In addition to the new iPads, we are also introducing Family Story Time. This story time for all ages will begin with a song, followed by a story and end with a small craft.
