Brittany McConathy of Stonewall and Matthew Whitaker of Winnfield were selected as queen and king of the 2015 Homecoming Honor Court at Northwestern State University.
McConathy and Whitaker are part of a 22-member honor court, which will participate in activities during Homecoming Week at Northwestern State and will be presented at halftime of the Homecoming game against Lamar on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The court also includes Brooke Anderson of Mansura, Charles Anderson of Pineville, Sha’Destiny Blackshire of Shreveport, Anthony Cannata of New Orleans, Sharonda Collins of Opelousas, Brian Cook and Myranda Degraw of Baton Rouge, Sarah Gandy and Jamarius Williams of Monroe, Terrell Gorham of Alexandria, Chantasia Grasty of Leesville, Angel Greer and Emilie King of Natchitoches, Demetri Hill of Mansfield, Constance Johnson of Marksville, Christopher Juneau of Cottonport, John Pearce of Maringouin, Anthony Pham of Harahan and Beau Russell of Ruston.
McConathy is the daughter of Brent and Julie McConathy. She is a senior business administration major. McConathy is president of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and was the 2015 Freshman Connection coordinator. She is a member of Blue Key and Purple Jackets honor societies, Demon Volunteers in Progress and Presidential Leadership Program alumni. A Dean’s List student, she was the 2015 Miss Northwestern State University and the 2014 Greek Woman of the Year.
Whitaker is a senior psychology major. He is the son of Curtis C. Whitaker II and Brenda Mathews. Whitaker is the 2015 Mr. Northwestern State University and Greek Man of the Year. He is president of the Student Government Association and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Whitaker is a member of Psi Chi and Blue Key Honor Society. He was a freshman orientation leader and a member of the Student Activities Board.
Brooke Anderson is a senior elementary education major. She is the daughter of Clark and Melissa Anderson. A member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Brooke Anderson is also a member of Purple Jackets and Blue Key honor societies, Order of Omega, Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Lambda Delta. She is a President’s List student.
Charles Anderson is a junior theatre major. He is the son of Sandra Noel and Charles Anderson Sr. A member of the NSU Dance Company, Charles Anderson has been a NSU cheerleader. He is a member of the Make Your Own Theatre Performance Troupe and the Lady of the Bracelet Committee, serving as choreographer for two years. He is a President’s List student.
Blackshire is a junior criminal justice major. She is the daughter of Carolyn Blackshire. A President’s List student, she is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Inc., Helping Hands, Lifted Voices Gospel Choir and the African American Caucus.
Cannata is the son of Peter and Heather Cannata. He is a senior business administration major. Cannata is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and the Student Activities Board where he serves as vice president. He is a member of Blue Key Honor Society, the Order of Omega and Alpha Lambda Delta. Cannata is a member of Demon Volunteers in Progress and was a freshman orientation leader.
Collins is a senior social work major. She is the daughter of Esther Nelson. Collins is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the National Pan-Hellenic Council, NAACP, Helping Hands, Circle K International and the Social Work Club. She is a Dean’s List student.
Cook is a senior mass communications major. He is the son of Ray Cook Sr. and Lynette Williams. Cook is sports editor of the Current Sauce and vice president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He is a member of Helping Hands, the African-American Caucus and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. He is a President’s List student.
Degraw is a junior psychology major. She is the daughter of Gary and Jeanne Degraw. A freshman orientation leader, she is vice president of new member education for Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Degraw is a member of the Demon Days Committee, the First Year Experience staff and Presidential Leadership Program alumni. She is a President’s List student and member of Alpha Lambda Delta.
Gandy is the daughter of Butch and Arlene Gandy. She is a junior mass communications/liberal arts major. A President’s List student, Gandy is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta, Purple Jackets and the Presidential Leadership Program alumni. She was a freshman orientation leader.
Grasty is a senior family and consumer sciences major. She is the daughter of Christopher and Theresa Grasty Williams. She is vice president of the Student Government Association and president of the NSU chapter of the NAACP. Grasty is a member of Helping Hands, the Social Work club, Presidential Leadership Program alumni, PRIDE and Circle-K International. She is a Dean’s List student.
Gorham is the son of Terrell and Jennifer Gorham. He is a junior social work major. Gorham is president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and is a member of the Student Government Association, Order of Omega, Alpha Lambda Delta, Helping Hands, the African-American Caucus and the Social Work club. He is a Dean’s List student.
Greer is a junior social work major. She is the daughter of Tara and Michael Peair. Hill is a junior biology major. He is the son of Nanette Hill. A member of the Student Government Association, Hill is also a member of Blue Key and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Tri Beta and Lifted Voices Gospel Choir. He is a Dean’s List student.
Johnson is a senior health and exercise science major. She is the daughter of Monroe Hill III and Jennifer Hill. Johnson is president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., a member of the Student Activities Board and is Freshman Factor committee head. She is a Dean’s List student.
Juneau is the son of Ron and Layla Juneau. He is a senior health and exercise science major. Juneau is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the Presidential Leadership Program, Demon Volunteers in Progress and was a freshman orientation. He is in the NSU Men’s Chorus and is a President’s List student.
King is a mathematics and secondary education major with a concentration in math. She is the daughter of Dawn and Dustin Eubanks. King is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta, Blue Key and Purple Jackets honor societies. She has been a freshman orientation leader and NSU cheerleader. A President’s List student, King is a member of the Student Activities Board.
Pearce is a junior communications major. He is the son of Frankie Pearce and Gina Jarreau. Pearce is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, the Student Government Association, Presidential Leadership Program alumni and Alpha Lambda Delta.
Pham is a senior biology major. He is the son of Nguyen Pham and Mai Nguyen. Pham is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, Beta Beta Beta and Alpha Epsilon Delta, Blue Key and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. He is a President’s List student.
Russell is the son of Skip and Carolyn Russell. He is a senior general studies major. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and president of the Interfraternity Council. Russell was a freshman orientation leader and is a member of Demon Volunteers in Progress. He is an NSU Cheerleader and a member of the Presidential Leadership Program alumni.
Wild is a senior hospitality management and tourism major. She is the daughter of Kevin and Monique Wild. A President’s List student, Wild is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and served as a freshman orientation leader. She is a member of Demon Volunteers in Progress, the Presidential Leadership Program alumni, the Student Activities Board and Alpha Lambda Delta.
Williams is the son of James and Vanessa Williams. A senior biology major, he is president of Theta Chi Fraternity. He is a member of Blue Key, Order of Omega and the Allied Health Organization. Williams is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the NSU Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and Alpha Lambda Delta. He sings in the NSU Chamber Choir and NSU Men’s Chorus.
