Dr. Jim Henderson discussed progress made during his first year as president of Northwestern State University during an address to faculty and staff Tuesday. In addition to increased retention and the development of several market responsive degree programs, NSU faculty and staff worked over the last year to engage with partners in industry and at other institutions and made changes that focused on a premier student experience, academic excellence, community enrichment and improved facilities. In the coming year, the university will fill several key leadership positions and continue to expand program offerings, improve facilities for its satellite campuses and open a new Academic Success Center. “There are many things for us to do and no way to be finished quickly,” Henderson said. “We can’t pick easy goals. We have to pick goals worthy of our students, worthy of our employer partners, worthy of your efforts and worthy of our alumni.” Classes for NSU’s Spring 2016 semester will begin Monday, Jan. 11.
