Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development have contacted the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reporting that La. Hwy 494 near Plantation Point is closed for an indefinite period.
NPSO Communications have received numerous calls concerning alternate routes into the City of Natchitoches because La. Hwy 1 South is closed because of rising floodwaters.
NPSO Deputies say they have traveled Fish Hatchery Road from La. Hwy 494 south of Pratt’s Bridge to Natchitoches and it is completely passable with no floodwaters. The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour.
An additional route into the City of Natchitoches is I-49 to the Posey Road exit, then Johnson Chute Road to La. Hwy 1.
During your commute please drive carefully, pay attention to the roadway, and avoid driver distractions.
