The Northwestern State University Volleyball team held its Spring Dig Fest at the Point Place Marina. The Spring Digfest, along with one held in the Fall, are fundraisers for the NSU Volleyball team and a fun annual tradition for the community.
Twelve teams from Natchitoches, Monroe, Shreveport and Ruston battled throughout the day under a crystal clear blue sky. NSU Volleyball supporters brought food giving the event a tailgating family atmosphere. NSU Assistant Volleyball Coach, Alicia Roth, stated that the event is held to finance projects and extras for the team not covered by their budget, such as new equipment for practicing and renovating the locker room. The funds also allow the team a few nice extras while on the road. This year’s Spring Dig Fest is expected to raise between $1,000.00 and $1,500.00 with the Fall Dig Fest bringing in a bit more.
