Kids with dreams of making it big are gaining stage time at Northwestern State University’s Theater Camp. Twelve theater students write, choreograph and direct a musical to be performed by campers age 7-14.
This year’s play is called “Once Upon a Detention” about four kids in detention who fall asleep and are transported to a magical land. In the story they overcome obstacles and learn that love, kindness and friendship conquer all. The students and campers gain valuable knowledge and experience. The students get a taste of the “other side,” (becoming teachers) and the kids get hands-on experience on stage.
The camp is broken up into three sessions: acting, singing and dancing. At the end of camp parents will have three opportunities to see their stars perform.
