The theme for the 2016 Cyriaque Family Reunion, set for Aug. 5-7, is “Take Me To The River: Cane River is Home.”
Family members from the Cyriaque, Cyriak, Cyiark and LeCompte families will gather for the first time since 1999, the last time a reunion was held. These families originate from France, Europe, New Orleans, Magnolia Plantation and Derry.

A meet and greet will begin the weekend events at the Best Western Conference Center Friday night at 6 p.m. Speakers include Katherine Johnson with the Natchitoches Area Convention and Visitors Bureau; Shirley Small-Rougeau and Elvin Shields with the Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association; and Deacon/Dr. Herbert Baptiste Sr. of Saint Andrew Baptist Church in Derry.
Saturday morning includes a historical tour at 9:45 a.m. featuring Magnolia Plantation, Saint Augustine Catholic Church and Saint Andrew Baptist Church. Interested persons are welcome to take the tour. Bring good walking shoes, snacks and water.
Saturday night features a Banquet Program at 7 p.m. with speakers including Dr. H.“Pete” Gregory and Dr. Susan Dollar from Northwestern State University, family members Jeanne Cyriaque with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Pastor Marcus Cyriaque, one of the families’ genealogists.
Everyone should get involved with his or her family history to document and share from generation to generation.
