The meeting of the Natchitoches Parish School Board Thursday, September 8 was very brief. The board approved all agenda items including eight travel requests. Brooklyn Hampton and Preston Tibbett of Natchitoches Central High School’s FFA chapter spoke to the board about their upcoming trip October 19-22 to FFA nationals in Indianapolis.
“If we win we will be the first school in Louisiana to do it,” said Hampton. “So if we win we are not only representing our school but our Parish and our State.”
“Last year over 60,000 members attended nationals,” said Tibbett. “I personally met people from 48 of the 50 states.”
Natchitoches Central FFA won six of the 24 state events this year. No other school in the state won more than two.
“I get FFA coaches who call from Kansas, Kentucky and Ohio that get scared when they hear we are coming to nationals.” said Aaron Beaubouef, FFA Advisor/Agriscience Teacher at NCHS. “We’re going to beat them like a rented mule.”
