Natchitoches Magnet School started their season with a strong win last week but failed to keep the momentum going. Provencal defeated the Warriors team 32-14 at Tuesday night’s game, Sept. 13.
The first quarter of the game proved difficult for the Warriors defense. The Provencal Panther’s offense quickly scored back-to-back touchdowns and never looked back.
In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors offense exploded with a short pass to Jalen Wilson, #2, leading to the team’s first touchdown. Followed by a two-point conversation by quarterback Colby Raupp, #9.
Provencal quickly bounced with a touchdown of their own and a successful field goal attempt pushing their lead to 24-10.
In the third quarter, the Warriors offense didn’t put any points on the board and their defense failed to stop Provencal. The Panthers extended their lead from 24 to 32 with a touchdown pass and a field goal.
The last quarter the Warriors defense was successful at keeping the Panthers at bay. Warrior’s offense fought hard, and player #43 was able to out run the defense and scored one final touchdown.
“We need to do a better job coming off the ball,” Head Coach Brian Raupp said. “We need to do a better job defensively blocking and being more aggressive.
The team will face Vaughn/Parks Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. The Warriors team is made up of Magnet and NSU Middle Lab students.
