The Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches met for its first planning meeting Oct. 20 at the NSU Recreation Complex. Club members focused on preparing for this month’s service projects including “Kiwanis Kids Day” to be held Saturday, Oct. 29 at Turpin Stadium and volunteering at “Witch Way to Main Street” Monday, Oct. 31 on Front Street.
Kiwanis and NSU Vic’s Kids Club are coming together to show young children an amazing time at the Division I football game against Nicholls by hosting a Halloween themed Tailgate Party. There will be inflatable bounce houses, a private tailgate with food and drinks sponsored by Sodexo, games, and trick-or-treating in Donald’s Demon Alley.
“We are hoping the kids come out to trick or treat in Donald’s Demon Alley,” said Kiwanis member Haley Taitano. “I’m really excited that all kids that register for Kids Day will get to make the tunnel for the Demons as they run out on the field to play. We encourage kids to dress up in their Halloween costumes.”
Admission is $5 and free for members of Vic’s Kids Club. All children and groups must be accompanied by an adult. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 318-357-4278 or email Taitano at blounth@nsula.edu.
Kiwanians also volunteered to pass out candy at the City’s Halloween event “Witch Way to Main Street.” During the planning meeting members visited tables representing the different aspects of the I-Plan including Impact Image, Inspiration and Investment.
