We need your help!!
The Natchitoches Parish Journal, Janice Bolton, NSU Demon Regiment, Bolton Realty and others are raising funds to give soldiers at Fort Polk and Barksdale Air Force Base a special treat for the Christmas season. The money will provide soldiers and their families with 300 armbands to attend Natchitoches’ Christmas Festival Dec. 3.
The community is asked to join the effort by dropping off donations to Bolton Realty’s office on Front Street. The deadline is Friday, Nov. 18.
In addition to the soldiers stationed at Fort Polk, there are 5,000 plus soldiers there at any given time going through readiness training. Fort Polk and Barksdale AFB are both only an hour away. Soldiers and airmen from all over the country are close to Natchitoches during the Christmas holidays, many with young families. Janice Bolton discovered from hosting them at other events that many of them don’t know about Natchitoches. As Chamber Chair, Bolton thought it would be good to reach out to both bases to put Natchitoches on the map.
“With a grandson serving our country far from home, I know what it is like for military families,” she said. “This is one way I can try to honor their service and demonstrate our hospitality in Natchitoches.”
It’s thanks to people like Janice Bolton who support the nation’s troops, who in turn continue to keep us free.
If the Christmas Festival Committee was sincere and appreciative of what the soldiers do. They would offer the tickets for free.
What about veterans in the Natchitoches Parish that have served this country? Shouldn’t you have included them and their families as well?
