Natchitoches Christmas festivities will continue this weekend with Holiday Kids Fest on the downtown riverbank. Kids Fest will feature festival food vendors, amusements, live musical entertainment and fireworks. Admission is free on Friday, Nov. 25, and $6 for adults after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26.
Festival food and amusement vendors will be open from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. Amusement vendors include inflatables, laser tag, spider jump and mechanical bull. In addition, DJ Leonard Sarpy will provide music on the riverbank stage from 5-8 p.m. Admission to the riverbank is free on Friday.
On Saturday, Nov. 26, vendors will open at 10 a.m., and live musical entertainment starts at 3:30 p.m. with local favorites, the LaCour Bros Trio. At 6 p.m., last year’s Christmas Festival headliners Chicken on the Bone will take the stage. Chicken on the Bone members are irresistible rock entertainers playing real rock and the best tunes featuring hits from ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Billy Idol and Kiss. A spectacular fireworks show over Cane River Lake will take place at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults age 12 and older on Saturday after 1 p.m.
All vendors will accept Christmas Festival vendor tickets only. Christmas Festival vendor tickets can be purchased in advance at local businesses and along the riverbank at automated ticket booths.
In preparation for the Holiday Kids Fest, the downtown riverbank will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. The riverbank will remain closed until the conclusion of the event on Saturday night. The Church Street Bridge and Williams Avenue from Whitfield Drive to Henry Avenue will close at 6:30 p.m. to all traffic on Saturday, Nov. 26 in preparation for the fireworks show at 7 p.m. The bridge will reopen after the fireworks show has been completed.
