Two vehicles crash head-on in Robeline

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Robeline Police, State Police, four Natchitoches Parish Regional Medical Center EMS Trauma Units, and Life Air Rescue responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash on Hwy. 6 West within the City Limits of Robeline Dec. 14 at 6:28 a.m.

According to Robeline Police, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Ford Van operated by Steven M. Edwards, 29 of Zwolle, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 6 when he reportedly fell asleep. He drifted across the center-line, striking a 2013 Honda Civic operated by Karen Montgomery, 58 of Natchitoches.

After impact both vehicles came to a rest in the westbound ditch.
Edwards was reportedly not injured. Eight passengers in the van were transported from the scene by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

Six passengers were transported with non-life threatening injuries while two of the passengers were transferred to area trauma centers with serious injuries.
Montgomery, wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, was transported by EMS to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Edwards was cited for Careless Operation of a Vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by Robeline Police.
