District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington was elected unopposed today when candidate
qualifying ended for the election of District Attorney with no other candidates entering
the race.

“I am grateful to the citizens of Natchitoches Parish and my fellow members of the
Natchitoches Parish Bar who supported me for this position,” said Harrington.

Harrington assumed the office of District Attorney last year when now-Judge Van Kyzar
was elected as judge on the Third Circuit Court of Appeal.

Harrington previously served as First Assistant District Attorney since 2012 and has
worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Natchitoches Parish since 1990.

“As District Attorney, I remain dedicated to the people of this parish and will treat all
citizens with the same level of respect, fairness and dignity. I commit to being the
District Attorney that this parish deserves and expects, and nothing less,” proclaimed
Harrington.
