The Natchitoches Police Department received a report of three juveniles being held at gunpoint with one falling victim to an attempted robbery Jan. 14 at 6:45 p.m. The victims reported that they were walking on Airport Road when the suspects, one of them armed with a handgun, approached them. When one of the victims advised that he had no money, the suspect struck him in the back of the head and fled on foot.
Shortly after 8 p.m., NPD Officers made contact with Joshua Demars and he was taken into custody. In addition a juvenile suspect was taken into custody following a foot pursuit.
Demars was charged with the following: 2 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, attempted simple robbery, and possession of a stolen firearm which was determined to have been stolen from a residence on fairgrounds road.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting an officer. He was released to his parents.
Demars was placed in Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, where he awaits bond. Further charges are pending.

I’m pretty sure he’s part of the family of the two boys that broke into my home 3 times. This is ridiculous. People don’t feel safe. Thank God the victims were not hurt too bad. Thank you NPJ for keeping our community informed so quickly.
