Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell announced that NSU is slated to receive an additional $200,000 donation from SWEPCO. The announcement was made during a legislative priority meeting, which was attended by legislators from throughout the state.
This is the second donation NSU has received. The first was presented to former president Dr. Jim Henderson in November of last year. The money is leftover funds from a total $25 million in capital credits that was given back to the appropriate sources after Valley Electric was sold to SWEPCO.
“I’m proud to be an NSU alum,” said Campbell as he pointed out that he chose to wear a purple jacket to the meeting. “I believe in education and I believe in what it can do.”
An official press release will be forthcoming when a check is presented to the university.
