NPSO deputies arrest Coushatta man on drug charges

A traffic stop March 10 at 1:06 am near Campti led to the arrest Bobby Eugene Jones Jr., 57 of Coushatta, on drug charges according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jones remains in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. He was charged with Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana, Possession of CDS IV Alprazolam, Open Container Violation and traffic offenses.

On Friday NPSO Patrol Division deputies stopped a 2004 GMC on US-71 north of Campti for a traffic violation.

Deputies learned Jones’ drivers license was suspended during a computer check. They also observed an alcoholic beverage container in plain view in the vehicle in violation of the open container law.

When deputies collected the container, they discovered a glass smoking apparatus commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics inside. Deputies obtained permission to search Jones, an unidentified passenger and the vehicle for any illegal narcotics.

During a search of Jones, deputies discovered approximately 3 grams of suspected marijuana and 4 alprazolam pills on his person. Jones was placed under arrest, transported and booked into the detention center where he awaits bond. The passenger was released.

The seized narcotics will be submitted to the crime lab for narcotics identification and analysis. Deputies assigned to Patrol Shift “A” made the arrest.
