Natchitoches Police Department Officers responded to a medical emergency on Klaire Circle shortly after 10 p.m. on April 8. Officers arrived and spoke with a witness who advised her neighbor knocked on her door and advised his brother was injured and she called 911.
The victim, a 12-year-old male, had an injury to the head that was later determined to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and was later airlifted to University Health in Shreveport. At last report the victim was in critical condition.
No suspect information is available at this time and this case is currently under investigation by The Natchitoches Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.

The first thing is that a responsible gun owner would have the gun in a place that younger, irresponsible, visitors or residents of the home could not get to it. Horrible accidents like this one shows just how fast something can go wrong. I believe in the 2nd amendment to the fullest but each of one us who chooses to possess a gun for protecting our selves and our loved ones must be responsible in doing so. It only takes a second for something terrible to happen. It only takes a minute to put our guns away in a safe, secure place when it is not in our presence. God bless this child and his family. May his health be restored and may we all learn from this tragedy.
Look it was a robbery it had nothing to do with the owner having a gun. Someone came in the house on the baby and he was shot with the burgulars gun geesh get your facts straight before you post for the public to read this wrong information. I thank you for your prayers and uplifting words.
I hope this child is going to be okay, but why was the twelve year old at home without a responsible adult. It didn’t say in the report how old the brother was that went to the neighbors. I feel for this family, such a terrible accident.
This is from a family member and no my cousin was not home alone. His 18 year old brother was with him. The mother and father left to go to the store and the 18 year old was there. People spectulate and say things without getting the full story. That’s why I hate for any social media, news, articles, newspapers and anyone else get a story and run with it without all the facts.
