FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

With the planned closure of State Route LA-117 south of Hagewood by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development beginning on May 8, 2017, Natchitoches Parish President Rick Nowlin announces that through truck traffic will not be allowed on Collins Road and Robeline-Provencal Road.

These routes may be used only by light vehicles and by trucks for which permits have been issued by the Parish Highway Department. The unpermitted use of these roads by vehicles weighing more than 5 tons is a violation of Parish Ordinance No. 11-6.1.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office will patrol these routes and issue citations for violations of this ordinance.

During the LA-117 closure, DOTD has designated State routes LA-120, LA-478, and I-49 as the official detour routes.

For additional information relative to the Parish road system, please contact the Natchitoches Parish Highway Department at (318) 357-2200. For questions relative to the State highway system, please contact DOTD at (318) 357-3161.

  1. They need to drastically replace the disasterious unpaved road in c loutierville, the road along Coco Bed has been long overdue for Repair 30 years I would think is too long.

  2. How many times have we bottomed out driving 25mph on these roads? It’s ridiculous.

  3. Even for light vehicles both of these roads need lots of attention before 117 is closed. Collins road needs to be graded in the worst way and Robeline-Provencal Rd also needs a lot of attention before there are major accidents on either on.
I suggest Mr Noelia get in his own vehicle and drive both of them

  4. Weight isn’t the ONLY issue regarding the safety of cutting through on Collins Road… There are deep washouts and areas that allow room for only one vehicle! 😔
