Natchitoches has been named the 8th best city for post-graduates by a recent survey conducted by LendEdu using six criteria important for postgraduates looking to find their first homes.
Three cities in Louisiana garnered spots in the top ten, and among those three Natchitoches has the best cost of living index and income growth potential. “Natchitoches offers some surprising amenities for a small town and right now our trajectory looks good, making this an ideal time for recent graduates to make an impact as they begin a career,” says Tony Davis, President of the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce.
“With many service groups, Northwestern State University, large and small employers, and strong quality of life factors combine to create opportunity to develop your ideas,” Mr. Davis continues, “This is a great place to get involved to make a positive difference while you begin the next phase of your life.”

I don’t know what to think about this. There is even a map in the link. Of the 250 communities, none are in Utah, Nevada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. It appears Louisiana has a lead here…maybe the crime rate should be an added parameter. Although these places have large Gen Y/Millennial cohorts, it does not mean they are hip and it can mean the opposite. However, Louisiana does appear to have many things that other states will never have. The culture is perfect for writers, musicians, and artists. Even when not here individuals write, compose, or paint the state with huge success. Also upward mobility is great for all the needed scientist.
